Serpent Isle: Exult crash when sexing Frigidazzi

So i'm having an issue here that's preventing me from moving forward in Serpent Isle. I have tried different multiple answers.

In Moonshade, when you are trysting with Frigidazzi and she promises you spells, but instead wants sex... When Filbercio arrives and freaks out, the game crashes every time, preventing me from going to trial and entering the Mountains of Freedom.

I'm running this on OSX. Anyone else have this problem?

I *think* we had this problem reported here bfore and it is an issue with sound/OS X/Exult 1.2.
Try disabling all music and sound and see if it goes on.

Sounds like a usecode issue to me.

Wizardry seems to be quite prone to blaming everything on usecode issues; maybe that is why .

Naa - most of it I squarely blame on the fact that nothing seems to work for me

But, the very nature of then when and why it's crashing suggest that at the least it's a usecode call that's not being able to function properly - if sound's involved then it can probably be traced to a play_music call that's not functioning right, either by code or (more likely) Exult breaking. However, that such is the only place that the music system seems to break on OSX (at least for me, and admittedly I havent tested too deeply on OSX), it might just be the usecode call. Either that or a very -specific- Exult bug.

The Music system was rewritten since Exult 1.2 was released and it replaced the old 'dodgy' OSX midi driver with a much better one.

Chris, out of curiosity, were you using MIDI or digital music for music playback?

Hrm. Try the digital music and see if it works. The MIDI driver has been an issue in the past, and not just on OSX

I'd say try a snapshot, but you'll need to compile it yourself as we don't have any binary snapshots for OSX. We should probably provide a binary OSX snapshot as there is that problem in the 1.2 release. Will need to talk to Max about arranging something.

I can provide the compiled version I have, but it's kinda unstable, and I'd have to get the internet working on that labtop, since I dont have a USB drive kicking around

I had the same prob and solution with the Moonshade trial (on OSX); exactly the same thing happens at the end of the test of virtue (the pillar of fire) and also at the end of the test of ethics. I presume that the same music/sound is played at the conclusion to each of these events? In any case turning off the sound until afterward allows me to continue, I can turn it back on straight away with no probs also. I'll have to try the digital music and see if that works.
