Gorlab Kingdom

What time period did people live where Gorlab swamp is? Were they around when Shamino had a kingdom, or afterwards? Did the Ophidian empire include Gorlab or exist before or after it?

In Ultima I, there is a town called Gorlab, just where the swamp is in SI.

The peeps in the game said the Gorlab village was there before even the serpent people, however, I'm not sure which NPC said that... :/

If it existed in Ultima 1, it would have existed prior to the Ophidians, who would've sprung up around the time of U2-3.
I am unsure about what time that the town came under ruin though.

The Serpents saved the citizens of the Lands of Danger and Despair showing them a few underground caves where they can be safe. They in return start worshiping serpents, becoming the ophidians.

Probably Gorlab was destroyed in this time, survivors were in the caves and after that didn't rebuild the town.
