Exult Studio and ambient lighting

When editing the map, how do you define whether the default light level in an area follows the day/night cycle or remains in underground darkness or other level of constant light?

You add ceilings for underground darkness and light sources for constant light. There is currently no other way to do it.

A related question: is there any way to get underground light level to full brightness? I suppose one way would be to use an egg that toggles infravision on and off, but that would interfere with other things which use that flag. Maybe a separate light source shape with usecode which raises the light level higher when nearby?
