Crash on starting new game

Good day. (Maybe this should be in the osx directory post?)

I dug up my old ultima collection cd and decided to take it for a spin so to say. I should say before i get started i'm "playing" on a mac 10.6.3 and i am useing the latest snapshot build.

Alrighty then, i think i installed the game correctly. I just copied the ultima7 and serpent folders from the cd and placed them into /Library/Application Support/Exult/ renaming them blackgate and serpentisle. I also created a data directory at the same path and put into that the mt32 files and the ogg music files, i made a new folder for the music files eg. Library......./data/music .

I can startup the games just fine and the music (i had to change the cfg manually for that to work though, the documentation seems to indicate (for me at least) that it should automaticly change to the ogg files if i placed them in the correct directory) works and the guardian speaks but after i click start new game and name the avatar i get the red screen for a second and then the program crashes

Ok so i tried playing the game through dosbox but that gave me the same problem but gave me one clue on what was going on. The game crashes at the exact same time in dosbox but it tells me that it is missing a file in the static folder. Funny thing though if i copy my blackgate folder to my home folder then the game works just fine from inside dosbox. So i am guessing this is some sort of permission or directory problem. Maybe i set the whole thing up wrong, who knows i know i don't. I'd really really like to play the game using exult so if anybody can help me to get it working i'd be really thankful.

OK so i read the other tread and Monotremata had the same problem and fixed it. I just had to put the exult_bg exult_si and exult flx files in my /Library/Application Support/Exult/data folder then it worked. Anyways i'm off tp playing bug hunting.

Damn, I thought we had fixed that...
Just to make sure, did you use the latest snapshot availlable or did you see some time before that there is a snapshot availlable, downloaded that and by chance missed the fixed version? Just compare the date of the app bundle in the dmg with the date of the snapshot on the download page.

Oh and please copy paste the console log of the crashes here. The logs could still be findable in the console app...

This would really help when I get back and look at what the problem is.

I already trashed the dmg file but i'm 99% certain that i was using the latest app bundle, because i downloaded it just a day or two before starting this tread.

One note when reading my posts... I have a tendency to post and then realize I did something stupid (if you noticed all my replies in there)..

Anyways what you got going on is different then what happened to me.
Mine didnt crash like yours did.. Mine just exited out when it couldnt find the data files and gave me the message like 'Couldnt find static folder' and whatnot..

Yours looks like its actually crashing and coming down..

Thanks for postting the Error log, but can you look at the console log and see if you can find exult's log it "prints" to the general log when it runs.

Working here for me, i removed the exta flx files and the game loaded no problem.
