I hesitate to call this an Exult bug, since it was probably a bug in the original. So I thought I'd ask you all for some help here before entering it into the bugtracker.
I closed the gangplank on Capt. Hawk's boat in Sleeping Bull in SI, fairly early on in gameplay. Didn't think anything of it--I thought the ship was decorative, not a critical part of a cut scene.
So now...I've paid his ransom, and I'm ready to sail to Moonshade, but I can't. He says "okay, let's go," and then he & some other NPCs just kind of wander around on the docks aimlessly. I can't do much better, since whenever I click on the gangplank, I just get the old "can't reach here" message.
In BG, I'd just cast telekinesis. But I can't, because I don't have a spellbook.
So, are there any cheats I can do that will give me a spellbook? I'd like to just get the thing open, discard the cheat, and continue on with my game.
Thanks.

Re: Capt. Hawk's Gangplank
Addendum--I just figured out how to use the cheat mode & hack mover. So I'm unstuck, but I think this might be a real issue.
I also browsed the bug reports--there are a lot of things about getting Hawk to move, but not this one specifically.

Nice find
I'm not sure wether this is a bug or just an oversight of the original. But I made a note to add this to the gameplay FAQ

Re: Capt. Hawk's Gangplank
My memory may fail me, but I remember there were several cases for that particular scene to get stuck. Maybe the usecode for it was just badly written? (like much of the SI usecode seems to be, see the banquet in Monitor for example, or banes-related stuff)
Re: Capt. Hawk's Gangplank
If I remember right (and I think I do) you were able to close the Arabella's gang plank in the original.

Re: Capt. Hawk's Gangplank
I remember way back playing the original game, there was a major glitch that I don't know how it happened or what I did... but when we would get on the ship to sail to Moonshade, instead of turning, the ship just kept going straight over land! The ship would go through mountains (Claw Isle I think), over land and just kept going around the world in a straight line. Items would "collect" on the ship somehow. At one point, all sorts of garbage and items would collect on it, like the ratmen's crap and stuff. Captain Hawk just kept sailing along his merry way...
I never could successfully recreate that glitch, but I know it happened to me on more than one occasion. It sure was funny though. The original game sometimes was glitchy with that whole scene anyway, sometimes Capt. Hawk and the rest would freeze or not get there at all.
