WIP - BG mod "Castleton"

Post by Dominus »

I'm currently working on a mod called Castleton. Castleton is Lord British's fantasy Village near the ruins of his Britannian Manor III in Austin (google maps).
This is where the Ultima events HoBLotH II and III took place and I aim to make a nice town out of it that you can visit and interact with some NPCs. The big goal is to see the tournament "Capture the Flag" on the battlefield between the fort and the pirate ship.

A quick look at the overall progress

Nothing to do there yet, I'm first world building and thereby also re-learning how our tools work :)
A lot of the terrain is a placeholder (grass and forest) until I have the map properly laid out, so not everything in the forest fits and the grass parts may be a bit repetitive.

When I fix the starting point again, you should be able to start the game normally and find a teleport platform near Christoph's smithy in Trinsic which will take you to another map and place you in the battlefield.

For now the mod is at https://github.com/DominusExult/Castleton but once I have the map finished I aim to add this to our own mods in the Exult source.

More to explore, excellent. :)
So glad there are still loyal fans to this quarter of a century old game.

Really cool stuff. I get so excited when people are working on mods. It also means if I ever get back to trying to learn, I can harass people that have it fresh in their heads.

I quite enjoy the world building, it's a great distraction and very satisfying to solve problems that arise. I can only recommend ;)
