Argh! I wanna make my own house!

I read the documentation and nada. Still can't get the shapes into the game.
Create item doesn't exist either.. which means I can't spawn any gold and buy the deed for The Lusty Wench ship.
I'll re read the documentation and see if I can get this thing to work.

Use Exult Studio instead of create item. As for getting gold coins, use the cheat and don't forget to turn on cheating

The problem is that I can't drag the items and stuff from Exult Studio.. I have read the documentation and nada. Am I missing something? I'm pretty sure I have all the latest Exult stuff.

please tell us your OS and also make sure that you have the latest SNAPSHOT of Exult, latest version will not help.
Please also post the contents of the error files

My OS is XP. That drag and drop thing just doesn't work I have both exult in map editor mode and Exult Studio open and whenever I try to drag a shape from there it's just gives me a no mark.

DOH! I did read. I just now realized to scroll down and download the version 1.4. That wasn't in the documentation and that version 1.2 of Exult is the first thing you see in the downloads page. Ah for crying out loud if the 1.4 version is the latest why isn't it on top?
Oh well at least I got the thing working I can now place objects on the ground.. the Black Gate crashed when I tried to play it so I turned off the intros (seen them like 10 times anyways) and now it works just fine for now.

Exult Studio only works with the latest snapshot, not the latest release.
What's so hard to grasp about that?

Bugs and not yet implemented features in Exult get fixed almost daily in the code. A release is very time consuming that's why there are so few.
The snapshot is the newest source code of the program. It is updated almost daily, sometimes twice a day. There is information on how to build your own binary in the source but there is also the newest pre-compiled Windows executable. If there is no new one this means that either there were no changes to the code or the source failed to compile.
So to answer your last post

Version 1.2 is the latest official version, that's why it is on top. We do not have a version 1.4, we do have a snapshot of the current code provided in compiled form. The Studio docs say to use the snapshot ****N**O**T** the latest release. I told you a couple of times to get the latest snapshot. If you don't knwo what I'm talking about concerning Exult, please check the FAQ, documentation and if all else fails, please ask.

the one labeled 1.4.x snapshots for your operating system, install it wherever you want, but install exult studio to the same location. you can overwrite the 1.2 version.

I don't get it.. I just don't get it. Nothing works. 1.4.x version crashes and.. pleh.. 1.2 version doesn't bring up the exult studio. I give up. At least the create item works!

Some advice Dominus gave me that got things working,
"If I were you and you haven't yet done much, I'd nuke all my stuff again. This means
- delete C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Application Data\Exult
- delete C:\Program Files\Exult
- do NOT install exult 1.2
- install both the snapshots again(bottom of download page)
- also download and install the "Exult win32 Tools snapshot" as well,"
make sure you eradicate all traces so that you have a clean install.

WOW! IT WORKED! I can now play the game with the latest exult! no crashes so far! Just started a new game of Part 1 to check out if the stuff works.. map editing works like a charm and that ingame notebook will come VERY handy because there are alot of things in that wonderful game which you don't memorize! Thanks man.. big Thanks!
I LOVE the notebook.. something that Exult 1.2 and original game lacked.
I'm going to get my coffee and start playing at once! WHEEEE!!!

I know this is two years old, but there's no need to be a jackass, Dom. Few people who aren't developers understand what is a snapshot vs a release vs a beta vs an alpha vs a nightly.

oh, please, take two years old grudges elsewhere. And yes, I know that not everyone knows right away what is meant with snapshots.
BUT when someone tells you to use a snapshot and you don't know what that is you *ask*.
