I'm sorry if this sort of thing hs been discussed before, but I looked back a ways and couldn't find it. Admittedly, I might not have looked back far enough.
Anyways, I cannot get Serpent Isle to work. I have gotten Black Gate (with Forge of Virtue) to work swimmingly. But, Exult never seems to show SI as an option. I've installed SI as well as I can (using Windows XP Home), and have made sure that the pathway entered for SI is correct. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Exult, and SI still does not show up.
Myself and a friend who does have SI working are rather preplexed by all this. Has anyone any ideas?
I can't get SI to work.

Re: I can't get SI to work.
Can you show us your exult.cfg ?
Re: I can't get SI to work.
I can do that, I think. Keep my chosen name in mind, it fits rather well.

Re: I can't get SI to work.
Are you certain about the path? C:\Ultima \SERPENT\SI the space after ultima seems fishy for me.
Re: I can't get SI to work.
Yes, it should be c:\ULTIMA7\SERPENT\SI shouldn't it? Looks like a spelling mistake. Just edit exult.cfg to correct this mistake and save it, and next time you run Exult it should find SI fine.
BTW: If you have that SI directory inside SERPENT, you might as well move everything that is there back a directory into SERPENT and delete it. (and then be sure that the exult.cfg reads c:\ULTIMA7\SERPENT.) This won't make a difference to how Exult runs, it'll just be tidier

Re: I can't get SI to work.
as a rule of thumb, I always try to avoid spaces in directory and file names.

From the look of these two :
C:\Ultima 7\ULTIMA7
C:\Ultima \SERPENT\SI
my guess is to try: C:\Ultima \SERPENT as your path.

Re: I can't get SI to work.
Thank you very much for catching my dumb mistake. It works now, and I my chosen name turned out to be very prophetic!
I appreciate it muchly. Hope it didn't give you too much trouble/waste too much time.
