foreign keyboards

Post by palaga »

First, I would like to say how impressed I am by the work you've done.

Though I have a (small) suggestion to improve Exult. The keyboard supported is the american one, and it's quite annoying for a french guy like me (nobody is perfect) to get a "q" when hitting "a" key, a ">" for a ".", etc ...

Is it possible to do something about it using lib sdl ? (I think I read something about unicode)

Yeah, it is a SDL issue AFAIK. I'm still hoping someone will fix it sometime though a rough guess from me would be that it is only a Windows/SDL issue and doesn't affect the other OS SDL is ported too (as it would have been fixed long ago :-))

Well, under Linux with a French keyboard, it is impossible to type a number because we need the Shift key at the same time and exult doesn't allow it it seems. It's easy to see in the cheat pages : I can't type any number at all :/

Na, it would have been too easy if that worked :)

I can't definitely type numbers in Exult, too bad

it's definetly an issue with SDL. See if you can bug them http://www.libsdl.org/
(I sure woul like that too, because for some keyboard shortcuts like + or - I have to know where the key is on an US keyboard)
