Sorry if I've overlooked this subject, but I can't seem to figure out, using the map, how to answer Finnigan's "Copy Protection" map location questions.
Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Finnigan map questions
The latitude and longitude numbers on the cloth map can be hard to read, depending on when it was printed ( I have more than one map, and some prints weren't as faded looking and the ink is brighter). Additionally, you have to translate the runes to know what land masses Finnigan is asking about. You may have an easier time with a paper version of the map if you have one, or perhaps an internet image search will yield a decent scan that is easier to read. Good luck!
Re: Finnigan map questions
There are websites where you can find the answers to all copy protection questions, both in Black Gate and Serpent Isle.
I won't link to them, because I don't want to run afoul of any rules here against that.
However, I can understand the difficulty with these copy protection questions. A cloth map from almost 20 years ago would almost certainly be faded, worn or damaged at this point.
Plus, in Serpent Isle the correct answer to a copy protection question is the wrong answer (How many letters are in the name of the woman who made fine-fitting lambskin gloves?).
Whereas in Black Gate you can try over and over again, the beginning of Serpent Isle is a lot less forgiving, giving you only 2 chances to screw up before everything goes "Oink!".

Thanks for the replies.
I finally discovered through googling a readable map.

All my cloth maps are in pristine condition! They're of pretty good quality, actually.

Re: Finnigan map questions
Surprisingly the maps in the Ultima V and VI I just bought a couple months ago looked like they had never even been out of the boxes.. VI's is especially nice, I always hated the dark color of the UV map made it hard to read even when they were new and mint!

I try to keep very good care of my maps. I picked up a small boxed Ultima II from the Salvation Army for $2. The box was a tad rough, but the map was in mint condition. Tis an excellent find if I do say so myself!

Re: Finnigan map questions
Ah, the good old days when games came with loads of, well, useless crap; but nice useless crap. LB famously switched publishers for Ultima II because Sierra was willing to allow the cloth map and Ultima I's publisher didn't want the added expense. Infocom was the master of trinkets in the game box, even including an entire microscopic, invisible alien space fleet in every box of H2G2. Whether that's genius or chutzpah, I'm not sure.
Re: Finnigan map questions
I have a question on this topic. I have the correct copy protection answers (they were published by Origin/EA in their Ultima Archives, and are in the Ultima Wiki) - and yet Exult is still claiming that I'm answering them wrong.
Any ideas?
