I don't think the guards came when you broke display cases in the original,
of course they eventually came if someone saw you steal what was
underneath them.
Too bad shopkeepers got smart by U9 and started making their display
cases out of transparent blackrock.

I think they did come in the original U7, but we haven't implemented that. You do realize that Exult is not Ultima?

I think the point was that just because something doesn't work exactly the same way as it did in U7/SI doesn't necissarily mean that it's a bug. If it's something illogical or unbalancing like a glass sword not breaking, then yes, it definately is. If it's just a small difference between the two, then perhaps not.

In U7 Black Gate, the guards did not come for smashing glass cases UNLESS another character was on the screen (anywhere). Thus, smashing them at night proved quite useful . . .
In Serpent Isle, destroying ANYTHING always called the guards.
