Exult for Mac
I am trying to get Exult to run on my Macintosh G4 with OS-X operating system. The problem that I am running into is that when I put the Ultima 7 files (which are from a PC CD) onto my machine, everything seems to be going good until I try to run the executable file. At this point, nothing seems to happen! What am I doing wrong?
Re: Exult for Mac
what executable are you trying to run?

Re: Exult for Mac
Here is what we did , step by step:
1. Copied installed folders "ultima7" and "serpent" off of Ultima Collection CD and onto the Mac desktop.
2. Downloaded "exult-1.2.dmg" off of exult website to desktop (as we are in KY, we used the VA portal).
3. Ran exult-1.2.dmg and Exult 1.2 folder (read only) was created. Was not able to copy static folder into the exult1.2 folder.
4. Created new folder with Exultmac executable and copied static folder to the new exult1.2 folder.
5. Upon clicking on the ankh-shaped icon, not a darn thing happens.

Re: Exult for Mac
you don't need to copy the static folder into the exult folder. Especially when you want to run both BG and SI (as things will not work with both their stic files mixed up in the same folder).
It is enough to edit exult.cfg (found in Mac OS X at ~/Library/Preferences/exult.cfg) and point it towards the folder containing the static dir.
For example:
blackgate
~/my games/ultima/ultima7

Re: Exult for Mac
After downloading and running the file "exult-1.2.dmg" from the website, the "exult.cfg" seems to be non-existant. I can't find it anywhere. The only things that I see are "exult_bg.flx", "exult_si.flx", "exult.flx" and "midisfx.flx", which all located in the "data folder" which is within the "exult folder" with the executable and the text files.
I did a search of the hard drive, and "exult.cfg" isnot present. Fianlly, these "flx" files seem to be read-only. I can't edit them with a test editor.

Re: Exult for Mac
No one told you to edit the flx files. They are read only for a reason. Run the Exult app once and then close it again (if it runs). It should do something, I guess.
Look at the loaction for exult.cfg again and make sure you can view hidden files.
If all else fails, you can make your own exult.cfg with a text editor and save it there. Use the example at http://exult.info/docs.php#exult_config.
