Dominus, I see what you mean, but I was thinking that object rotation just seems like something that could be considered a reasonable and normal thing for the Avatar to do in-game? Particularly for smallish objects (up to and including wooden planks of course
I can even imagine the Avatar doing that "push" or "action" motion that he/she can currently do (momentarily sticking his right hand and foot out) to turn the relevant object around. Again, the implications on game dynamics might be questionable, but as Gunnar points out, it would facilitate better in-game construction (and adds yet another piece of interactivity which contributes to my love of the game .
I'm sure there are uses for in-game rotation other than construction, I just can't think of any right now ... hehe ok ok, what about that sword that you want to fit on your horizontal table but can't because the sword's aligned vertically? *Rotate* ahh there we go

Re: The SIMS obsession in U7
I still don't see any reason to have the rotate function in the game. It's just for decoration and decoration is best done with Exult Studio. You really have to sepearte functions that are useful for the game and functions that are useful for worldbuilding. And rotation falls into the latter.

Re: The SIMS obsession in U7
I don't really see the point on it. If you want to construct and decorate, you better buy UO and enter into a good shard. Or maybe install SPHERE or RunUO in your computer, and then you have a nice single player continous world. It's better, if you consider that the construction of ships, houses, and much other things is implemented, and with a little bit of programing in SPHERE, or some C# in RunUO you can change and modify a lot. I don't want to sound harsh with this... Sorry if it does, but it's true.

The POL UO server emulator also has a scripting language of its own, and it's highly customizable.
