Yurel and his "ball"

Is he supposed to give you two purple orbs if you offer him cheese twice, or is it a bug? I had several pieces of cheese in my inventory, and offered him food twice, and ended up having two orbs. I tried it a third time, but it didn't happen again, so it's only twice.
