Resurrect Torrissio in SI GOG.com version?

Post by Martin Gjellest »

Hi

Is there a way to resurrect Torrissio in the GOG.com version of Serpent Isle?

He took my green thing so i killed him to get it back, only to discover way later that i need him alive to get a spell to create plot items.

Kinda do not want to do everything since Batlins death over again.

Monks or Hourglass do not work. Neither does the guy in Silver Seed castle.

That's a good question. In the vanilla games you could cheat by going to the cheat menu (F2), pressing N, choosing 33 (which is Torrissio), pressing N again and make him alive by setting "Is Dead" or something like that to N(o).
But Exult does not seem to have this last option.
Hopefully someone knows a way around it.

What you also could do is add the spell yourself, by editing your spellbook.
You'll need to have Exult Studio installed. When in-game, if you put your spellbook on the ground, then press CTRL+ALT+M (map editor mode) and double-click your spellbook you can add the spell Create Soul Prism by double-clicking on 'add'.
You can then press CTRL+ALT+M again and go on with the show.

Original DOS (GOG.com) version needs to be started with the command line:
serpent manimal

Exult has a similar cheat menu via F2, and can allow unsetting the DEAD flag.

@KC: I'd love to know where you're seeing that 'dead' flag in Exult. I checked it, but it's not there.

F2 -> N for NPC -> NPC Number -> * for Advanced -> Flag 4 is DEAD

Setting the "dead" flag to "N" on 33 Torrissio did not work :( His corpse still litters the ground.

Ah, nevermind. I expected his corspe to reanimate. But he was actually duplicated and was sitting alive and well on the Magelords throne.

Thanks for the help!

Now i can progress further and experience these stories that i was too young to understand in the early 90s. Played both Black Gate and Serpent Isle but i was mostly just screwing around, since i was age 8-10 ish.

Thanks, KC. :)

I wonder why the Exult team didn't include this flag with the rest of the regular flags (e.g. hid it away). It's quite an important one and was there in the vanilla game.

The way the engine handles resurrection is a bit different from the other NPC flags. There's a plain resurrect that seems to function like this F2 menu option, where the existing body shape and inventory is ignored, and the living NPC reappears with no regard to their prior death or remains. The second resurrection functions more like a companion resurrection, with the body disappearing and all the inventory returned to the NPC. That's done by Usecode, so having the engine do it via F2 would have been a lot more code.
