Next Exult stable release (OT)
Like the last news post said: "It's official: the next Exult stable version will be out soon after Duke Nukem Forever." Well, now. Gearbox Software is developing it now, and it will definitely be done and released by the end of 2011. So can we finally have a new Exult stable release shortl...

Two revelations:
1. Each body you "find" is worth 100 monetari.
2. Strikethrough apparently doesn't work on this version of phorum.

Considering you get hit by the teleport storm, I don't see how this is really that relevant. Would you seriously be motivated to find the missing pieces of leather armor that Iolo started with instead of just getting a different set? SI: Buying spells from Enscorcio?
Enscorcio is a chicken in the Sleeping Bull Inn, and he calls me a pikeman and asks if I've failed yet. Nowhere in his possible dialog do I see anything about buying spells. This is in the original Serpent Isle (w/Silver Seed), and I haven't cheated at all. I don't remember ever having this issue be...

Very impressive. At 100%, it feels like the SNES version (bleh) when you use the arrow keys. You should, however, move the option to the video options instead of gameplay. It would be awesome if everything could be interpolated like this. Yeah, I already know it's unlikely due to the rendering code,...

(a) Nonsense. Plenty of people want multiplayer in Ultima 7. Just because they didn't post here doesn't mean they don't exist. (b) Nothing is impossible. In fact, restructuring the code to be more object oriented would help make a project like this easier, and it would most likely be accepted into t...

If you're going to base it off of existing artwork, I suggest looking at the Savage Empire SNES game. It was only released in Japan, and amounted in gameplay similar to the SNES version of Black Gate, but it had U7 style graphics. Email me about it, and I'll send you screenshots.

As far as engine capabilities, I believe the answer is yes to all of it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that animation can be governed by usecode. Just as well, I definitely know you can utilize usecode with pretty much any shape. Check out the Quests and Interactions, at the Seven Towers, t...

Re: DS port?
The resolution is a bit of a problem, but more of a problem is that you'd have to rewrite a LOT of rendering code for it to work well at all. The DS, like the GBA, has hardware graphics registers, whereas I believe Exult run software (please correct me if I'm wrong). Therefore, the entire rendering ...

If I had a time machine, I would go back in time and warn Richard Garriott to make sure he kept the source code safe. That would sure make the Exult team's job easier.
Also, to keep the near-gold copy of Lost Vale safe to eventually release. Who knows, though. That one may still exist somewhere.

Re: Better filtering?
In this case, it would be a bad idea to use it as a post-processing filter. Since the palette of Ultima 7 is so limited, and since there are a lot of black outlines, you would get unwanted assumed shapes from the filter when shapes overlap. It's implemented properly as-is. Sure, it would run faster ...

Nope, just change it so the weapon isn't rotated with the sprite, so it can be displayed behind it like it's in the right hand. Then you could have the shield always on the left hand and have it look something like this: http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/7069/pikemanshield1fk8.png http://img76.imag...
