Using the latest Exult snapshot, it seems at least at the very start of Serpent Isle the weather effects are coming in way too rapidly. If you are interested, I have some custom magically locked chest graphics lying around. I changed the glow to be around the chest's lock instead of covering it to match how the doors look.

I just remembered a tiny graphics error I once noticed in Serpent Isle: One of the frames of the shape used for the Great Captains has a hook hand. Presumably they were based off Hook in Black Gate and this was accidentally left in. I think it is the south-facing kneeling frame.

Hmm, maybe not inside, but having him make camp somewhere around the island might not be a bad idea. It feels like a running gag that when you meet Gorn in the games he's always caught up in something in almost the same spot.

With Exult I believe you can write the condition in form if (IRIALE(dead)) I'm rewriting Gorn's entire conversation tree in Exult usecode format, which is straightforward given there are no external flags associated with him. In my mod I am planning to allow Gorn to join once that fighter lady guarding the Cube Generator is dead. I decided against the condition being the destruction of the generator since at that point you are close to completing the game.

I am still working on my own mods. One of those is a bundle of things including recruitable Gorn, bringing back Beh Lem as an adult and Blackthorn's castle. The other mod is somewhat bigger in scope and I shall still remain tight-lipped about what it exactly is all about.

The h shadow would be due to me keeping the dimensions of the fonts the same. I think I'll extend it to the left a bit to make it stand out less.

I tried to clean up the game's regular font some. I tried to make it more readable and still retain some of the flourish, and keep the fonts same size. Here's a comparison shot:

More specifically, it is supposed to set which party member will be protected by others set to the specific combat behaviour. The icon for that shows a white dot intercepting an attack at another white dot.

Thank thee kindly for the speedy and helpful response! Now that I think about it, I suppose the graphical behaviour of slimes using different frames depending on whether there are other slimes adjacent is also hardcoded.

I think that is the better option with an extensive mod like yours. I'm just looking to add a couple of things on top of what is already there. I've succesfully done new sign texts and crystal ball views using similar code.

I managed to sort this out with a slight addition to the steps you posted. I snagged the clean initgame file, and then started my own mod in map editing mode. Then, while Exult and Exult Studio are running, I copied my backups of the altered ireg files over the mod's files, and then saved the map in...

That gets rid of that error message, but now I get another message for the line with "higherBookQualities();":

I made those changes to shapes_info and my usecode, but I still can't get this to work. Compiling usecode gave the following error message:

Also, food piling up on tavern tables seems certainly fixed to me. The worst I've seen is 2-3 plates on top of each other.

I noticed that one thing very prone to being placed outside the normal container bounds is magic shields into backpacks. You can see this right at the beginning of the game, just drag the Avatar's shield onto the backpack of party members without opening it.

And now I am unable to use the Water of Discipline to bring Cantra, Gwenno or Dupre back to their senses. Ethicality and Logic worked fine on Iolo and Shamino. I am using Marzo's fixes mod, so I suspect this might be some wires getting crossed with how that adds curing Cantra.
