Re: Compiling with Visual Studio 2003
Well, if you figure this out, you may want to document your process and create a FAQ on this. I saw your message and started tinkering. I noticed the notes on compiling the info using Visual Studio was a little sparse, but it got me started. I installed SDL, Zlib, and SDL-Mixer, and a few other smal...

Re: Idea of 8 level dungeon like Gateway to Apshai
Well, there isn't a reasonably complete UU engine so that's right out. The only alternative is using Exult for this, and I believe it would be a fun project. It could be done with the Exult engine, since the beasts, armor, items and graphics are built in. Then, when Exult3D comes out: *poof!* we hav...

Re: Idea of 8 level dungeon like Gateway to Apshai
UW in Exult? That would be awesome - I believe the studio as it stands would be perfect for something like this. I think it would be hard with the 3d puzzles, but there is more than enough ways to make something challenging with 2d graphics. Oh - and the sounds like Diablo - well, in my defence and ...

Idea of 8 level dungeon like Gateway to Apshai
I have had this idea in my head for a while now, and next year I'll be taking Visual C++ basic & advanced so I am wondering if I can do it in Exult Studio: The avatar starts in a dungeon a la UW1 - with bare necessities on his back. He is on a 1st level dungeon. He fights mongbats, those bubbly ...

Yeah - why the heck aren't D&D trolls like JRR Tolkien trolls?! In The Hobbit they are like big 9' humans, iirc, and can't stand sunlight. Wait a second... U7 Trolls are more like Tolkien trolls, which TSR stole trolls from and most of their ideas. link here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolls_...

Maybe they could give the carpet to Sullivan the Trickster as a quest - and you have to track him down a la Eliz and Abe. You have to undo all his tricks or something. I like the quest that takes you all over for peices approach like Gradilla mentioned - sorta like the U6 pirate map. That was a good quest.
