Ah, it is in npcEdrin object#(0x410) at least for his related barks. I'll dig in.

I don't see what's calling the lightning but there are calls to other functions there.

I just re-tested it, and saw the problem you describe. At Path Egg 3, Quality 16, Edrin also went loitering for a few seconds and restarted the Path Eggs. How did you get to the Henchmen in the Wall Room?

If Deadeye is already killed off he cannot move and that is why the pirate in your screenshot is not performing the scripted actions. The crouch position is the last one before a body takes its place.

The engine doesn't handle some container scenarios well. If you are holding a container and then go into Combat Mode, sometimes that container will disappear if no other container (like the backpack) can hold it.

Could this somehow be due to the bug around the egg near the banquet hall doors that deletes the next nearest egg? This typically deletes the egg that spawns the List Field pikeman who sits at the desk.

Fade in and fade out are used far more often.

Do you have a Windows build with that feature and the debug enabled? I'd like to tinker with it if I could.

Is it possible the original engine handled the unsetting of the ambient_light after the vision ended?

I dug up the flags to test from a new game for some of these visions, I'll post them later.

If I'm reading the Usecode behind the Edrin/Ale vision right, UI_ambient_light is not called there.

Is the vision of the Banes in White Dragon having this issue?

Is there a way to bulk change mountain shapes? There's a lot of them in SI that are just black as opposed to the typical colors. I tried to select them in a row of the same and edit, but the frame change applies to just one, even if they are the same shape.

The problem seems to be with initgame.dat. If I remove just that file the game loads.

With that file in place, I cannot start exult.exe --edit for the game either.

Using the hackmover when doing transactions has led to unexpected results.

There are different intrinsics in Usecode around giving items to the party, so it is possible BG uses a less robust form than SI does. It's been a long while since I've looked at BG's source however.

I believe this is due to the hack landing strips which may have weather eggs on each one, so you trigger the same weather three times over.

Yes, U7 keeps track of the game date and time. It also has timer functions, used for things like the wolf cloak being ready.

Not to mention the order things are stacked in is a little buggy. For example if I put a chair too close to a desk the desk will clip the chair.

It is possible but it would be a non-trivial amount of work. Rather than matching the strings, it would make sense to fork the code and input the translations directly. This would only work with Exult and not the original DOS-based engine though. How is Ultima VII Part Two auf Deutsch coming along? ...

I was looking at converting modern photos to usable faces in the SI style, and even a gradual decrease in color depth still doesn't get it right. Any ideas how that could be done?

It's a limitation of the Exult save format. Marzo had it on his feature request board.

I made a tower house out of Usecode and was so bummed when I reloaded. Everything above 15 fell by 16.

Steps rather than floors. Each adult human in the game is 4 high.

There are a few stacking-stairs puzzles, using crates or stones to get up the same height.

If you have the game and Exult Studio installed you can open the map editor and see how things can be moved up/down by double-clicking on them.

The description at the link is pretty accurate.

Both the original game and Exult save files have the 16 height levels limit. Marzo was considering raising in the save files since the engine itself can do higher heights.
