Any New Game Projects?
Are there any active projects to create a new game using the Exult engine? I started one a while back, but it turned into way too much work for one person. Also, like most people, I have talents in some areas, but not others. I'm pretty good at coding, and decent at story-telling, but I'm horrid at ...

Re: Nuvie - A new game engine for Ultima 6
One wouldn't really need to redesign the interface to allow the game area to take more space; just allow for higher resolutions, and the game area will be the part that expands to fill the bigger screen.

Re: Font question for Exult
Could you explain that overriding bit one more time, Dominus? :-) If I put 0.shp in my blackgate patch directory and name it fonts.vga, it uses the new font for all fonts, not just dialog. I also tried "fonts.vga 0.shp" (with the space) and fonts.vga.0.shp, but neither worked. The font doe...

I can't wait to try this out for myself ... it looks much better to me than the originals. I assume you just haven't gotten around to redoing the capital letters yet, and weren't planning on keeping those the same, right? Okay; I had looked at the code and saw that it was a simple exec to execute ucc, and I thought this call would work on Windows, especially if one was using gcc. Is ucc.exe in your PATH? I think that's the only way Studio will be able to find it. On Linux, ucc and all those other utilities are installed at /usr/local/bin, which is often in the PATH.

Re: POLL: resolution for new games?
It depends on the graphics. If it used the U7 BG orSI graphics, I would run at 320x240 scaled to x2, since I think everything looks too small at higher resolutions (Especially the text font). If the graphics were bigger, I'd happily run at higher resolutions, however. I would personally LOVE to see ...

Re: Font question for Exult
A new font would be great; can't wait to see it. I don't think too many people like the standard ugly yellow font uncluded with BG and SI. It's also hard to read at high resolutions. What color are you making yours? Maybe white with a black border would look nice? Btw, how close are you to finishing...

Okay, that worked. My problem was that the text.flx that I had copied from SI was in my static directory instead of my patch directory. Naming the object worked, as did copying the text.flx to the right place.

I don't know what is causing your problem, but the first think I would do is to check your exult.cfg file to see if the option really got saved. You should find something like this:
yes
If it says no instead, change it and save it and try again.

I'll do that.
