Note we were never planning on making a minimap in Pentagram. It just happened to be something that I made. I created a diagnostic gump called the FastAreaVisGump that sort of had the feelings of a minimap, so with a bit of brainstorming I came up with a way of 'cheeply' implementing a real minimap....

The left-right frames are the up-down frames with the x and y axis swapped.

Down becomes right, and up becomes left.

I will be the first to say that Java is slow, but it's not 'that' slow anymore. But what it comes down to is Exult has like 100,000 lines of C++ code. It would take an extremely long time to convert it all over to Java. Let alone the fact that Exult does things that will not be friendly at all to Ja...

The spawning of the mandrake root is a timer (6 hours?) that starts from when you first talk to the monk about it.

Exult is really poor with memory management. It does cache all the tiles, loads all the shapes when used and never evicts.

zlib_libcmt.lib is just a recompiled version of zlib to use libcmt.lib runttime instead of msvcrt.lib

If you are meaning in SI, there is only 1 dispel field scroll in the entire game. So, if you 'lost' it, you will need to restart/reload/cheat

If you are going to use Linux on an Xbox you should be able to compile exult for the xbox as if it was just any old linux installation. Porting Exult isn't really a problem, as exult is very portable, usually the problem is with SDL. A native XBE version of Exult is NEVER going to appear on this pag...

Doing that is actually quite difficult. You start needing to implement flood filling algorithms... not too fun. In most games that do that sort of thing they only have roofs that are only at a single level. Ultima can have roofs at multiple hights that makes the problem much more difficult. I'm not ...
