I just upgraded our forum to the latest version. I even managed to keep the database alive this time, unlike the previous... ummm... 'incident' ;-)

Mainly a security update, although I also implemented the ability to freeze threads.

I guess that means Spark's Ass will never happen again... *cries*

The ability to freeze threads is a fine thing for a forum to be able to do.

now the ability to have a "sticky" thread (keeping a thread on top) would be the next useful feature.

I'm working on that :-)

Wjp, are you sending your patches back to the Phorum team, or are you planning on creating your own fork ?

I did originally, but they pretty much ignored me, so I gave up after a while.

Ok, sticky/keep-on-top threads are in too

Stickies are in now? I'd say the first one to create would be one explaining the proper procedure for reporting bugs.

Yeah, good idea. We're discussing what we want exactly in a sticky+frozen thread at the top, at the moment. Suggestions are welcome :-)

Could you make the sticky/frozen patches available somewhere for download?

Our version of phorum is in our CVS, in the 'web' module. (The 'forum' directory, specifically)

Note that it isn't fully working, since I haven't updated the database setup scripts. (We kept our current database when upgrading, so I didn't need to run the setup of this version)

I might create a proper diff when I feel like it :-)

(Oh, and it also doesn't work for all forum settings; only for the 'Float to Top' setting we use)

Hey, I dunno if I posted in this topic, I thought I did, but uhh anyway, the forum looks good, any plans for personal customization? Like, theme changing or something?

Just a couple of suggestions to maybe add to the 'frozen sticky' (eew. hehe). Maybe ask the readers, once they've read the FAQ and are still going to post, to put down their OS, and other system specs, as well as the stderr and stdout files. Might also want to suggest they do a forum search to see if their question has been asked/answered already.

Again, just suggestions :)

the ability to modify a old post of yours should be very useful. No need to double-post or that kind of things. You guys have done it before as admins, but us, lowly users, would appreciate it too!

thx

Artaxerxes, it seems to me that you are no longer a "lowly person" :-)
