Si-french: a new version

Hi all,

just popping in to announce the release of Si-french 0.3.0

It contains more conversations (less that 100 files to go, out of the original 1200), support for a few french gumps (spellbook and magic scrolls), as well as 24h clock and much more.

It is still loaded with spelling mistakes but there is some work being done on that.

Any additional information on:

http://sf.net/projects/si-french

http://si-french.sf.net

Thanks to all for your support and remember, we need testers!

thx IgnitusDragonn.

If you happen to know French, give a try to the patch.

Even if you don't happen to know French, give a try to the patch anyways so that you might spot a few mistakes.

Newer version available: si-french-0.4.0

This version diffes little (just about 10 more files are translated) but it uses the new patching tool I developed to fix the problems ips would generate with linux.

Basically, this tool takes 2 binary file of roughly the same size and applies one to the other to create a new binary file.

It is pretty fast and reliable and contains build-in design and methods to make sure you actually have an original file to patch from instead of extracting the translated usecode from the ips's patches.

Please give it a try at:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... _id=103790

ps: btw, there is just over 90 files left for translation! It is getting really exciting!

Over 40 more files are translated in the newer 0.5.0 version available at every drugstore and on http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... _id=120419.

You need a pristine install of Serpent Isle and of exult (CVS prefered). The patcher is included (compiled for Windows and Linux) as well as its code source and the patch files.

If you are not using Windows or want to compile the patcher yourself, look into src/ and type make.

Patching requires a few easy steps:
* backup your static/usecode, static/fonts.vga, static/gumps.vga and static/text.flx
* locate or create your appropriate patcher binary.
* run as follows:
si-patcher "original file" "patch file" "translated file"

Enjoy!

New stuff on Exult

Hi guys,

As you may already know, I maintain a news website. When you come into developing something new, let me know, so that I can announce it on my website. Like that, I can direct more people at you so you can get as many testers as you need.

Would you like me to announce this new thing now, or would you like me to wait until you're done with it (let me know in that case)?

Um... I can't seem to get into the actual site... the home page and that. Is something wrong with the Exult site?

It took several tries to actually get to the forum.

Dino,
nice post but I would like you to modify it so that it reflects the fact that the french port of SI is not the work of the Exult team but the work of the SI-french team (http://www.serpentisle.fr.st).

After all, credit should be given to where it is due. The exult team deserves an amazing credit for all the awesome work done but so should the SI-french team for the French port of SI! :)

I'm sorry, I thought the Exult team was developing SI in French. I'll arrange it.
