What version of exult are you using? What OS are you using?

Could you post your stdout.txt and stderr.txt?

Shannon: are you sure that path is the right one? c:\ultima7\blackgate\ultima7\ultima7?

Garrett: the problem is probably that you have spaces in the path to your U7 directory. Either try the latest snapshot, or remove the spaces from the directory names.

Yada yada yada...

Just change the directory path so that it has no spaces.

C:\games\u7
or something like
c:\u7

Oh, yes, changing the path to c:\ultima7 helped, even though there were no spaces in my path, which was c:\programme\origin\ultima7_1
Thanks anyway :)

Shannon, run the actual Exult program, not u7run. Exult has a menu that will allow you to choose either BG or SI.

Garret, so is it working now?

Awk... don't dog back to that crappy hack job of an OS (not that ME is that much better). If your running on a FAT32 drive then you can always boot to DOS and play U7. You can do this by either creating a boot disk, or by creating a PIF file for U7RUN.COM and booting to DOS that way. You'll have to enable or disable the EMM386 manager I think, or I dunno, can't remember.

Though I find it weird as to why EXULT is not working properly. You should check to see if it is using the Windows Comapatibility option, that could be crashing it.

1) u7ireg00 maybe corrupt
2) I dont have SI BTW
3) The speaker thing on the left next to U7 Black gate is crossed, how do i un cross it?

Sorry for all the messages, i would be more comfortable to fix this problem on an Instant Message program like AIM or MSN rather then a message board.

I got it to work ^_^
Just one problem, the sound. There is music, but like when i am in Britian, it doesnt play Lord Brittania etc.

Shannon: so what was your problem? As for the music, it should be the right one. as for the red cross around the speakers, read the documentation and the FAQ.

Garrett: great that is is working now but you HAD spaces in your path as the output of your error files showed:
C:\Programme\Origin\Ultima Collection\Ultima7

Re: The Red Screen (HELP!)

Ok then, but how do i get it to play like the normal songs where its sposed to be.

eg: Rule Brittania in Britian. It just plays random songs, even though there is a cross.

Re: The Red Screen (HELP!)

Posted: Sun Apr 28, 2002 2:32 pm
by wjp
the cross only indicates that there's no SFX

Re: The Red Screen (HELP!)

Posted: Sun Apr 28, 2002 2:33 pm
by Dominus
it doesn't play random songs. Music is triggered by music eggs which shouldn't play random songs...

the red cross means you don't have the sfx files installed which has nothing to do with the music...

Re: The Red Screen (HELP!)

by SB-X
It's not supposed to play Rule Britannia all throughout Britain, just where the eggs are as has been explained. Try walking into the southside of the city from Paws.
