Exult Studio crashing and eating parts of the map

When I add shapes in Exult Studio and save the shapes file, the whole thing invariably crashes (though the new shapes are saved). The bigger problem is that this tends to cause parts of the map around where I saved to disappear. This seems to be the same issue I discussed in this thread:

http://exult.info/forum/viewtopic.php?p=28312#p28312

However, at least this thread does not give any concrete cause or solution to the problem.

Another thing I would like to ask about is, how do I revert the main game map to the default state within a mod? To make this problem more manageable I took on the habit of saving on the main map. I've tried moving/renaming the u7map, u7fix and u7ireg files in the mod's directory so the game wouldn't use those, but that doesn't seem to have helped.

Dude I have the same problem when I try to insert shapes, it is very aggravatign. I've had several areas of the map wiped that I had to replace with backup ireg files. To find that directory is difficult... its pretty much somewhere in the documents\USER\somethingsomething folder, might have to run a search for it. I guess it only affects the u7ireg file your working in, so one workaround might be create a 'blank' map just for testing new shapes.

Thanks, I managed to restore things by copying the ireg files from the main game to my mod. I wish there was a chart or something to show which ireg file corresponds to which part of the map.

I know... it seems like there used to be something like that on the internet a long time ago but I have yet to find it again. I figure if you had some time, you could grid them somehow. I actually have a blank map somewhere where I grid the map in 12x12 chunks that corresponds to the ireg/ifix files. I used it for the basis of my new mod map when I had to rebuild it from scratch. I'll dig around for it and send it to you. At the very least, you could go into each grid on the blank map, put a piece of roof or some static item, save, then find out which ifix file was altered by the save, and grid it that way.
