FOV+Keyring: Problem with Orb of Moons?

I wondered if anyone else ran into this problem. I was using this 'map' to try to get to New Magincia right off the bat.

But no matter how near or far I tossed the orb, I'd always end up at the nearest moongate to where I was. It does seem to take me other places, but when I try to go a particular place, I end up going nowhere fast. Any ideas?
I also noticed something strange that might or might not be an issue. I kept trying to get to NM but reappearing at the Britain gate. After four or five attempts at this, I noticed there were a TON of cloud shadows, to the point that the area where they overlapped was totally black. Normal?

The Orb of Moons works exactly like that in the original U7, in that it doesn't always take you to the correct shrine. You have to experiment a little, and keep trying.

I see. That link said that the locations remained the same from VI to VII, so I assumed that tossing it somewhere between the Avatar and the left side of the screen would take me to New Magincia.

It looks like the Keyring Mod is supposed to change how the Orb works, as per the readme (note to self: rtfm) but it doesn't seem to work for me, not the way it's supposed to according to Marzo's diagram.

Perhaps you are not throwing it "far" enough? I'd personally would love just a pop-up dialogue that let's you just select a location when "using" The Orb of Moons (with a random chance of it taking you to the wrong location).

I'm actually using a slightly larger resolution than 'optimal' but only slightly, and it doesn't matter if I toss it near or far...it simply doesn't go where it's supposed to. Keyring hasn't updated in over a year, I'm just wondering if it may have been victim to a minor change in Exult in that time.

Hmm, just maybe the orb of the moon only works after fixing the ether?

Actually it should stop working when the sphere generator is destroyed
Looking at the mods source, the orb doesn't work (correctly or not at all?) if you are still around trinsic and/or haven't left Trinsic through the copyprotection answers way;)

THAT is quite likely to be the answer I was looking for. When I ran into this problem, I had gone over the Blacksmith's shop to make a quick testing save. I *thought* I was using vanilla BG+FoV, but perhaps not? Either way, thanks Dom for your suggestion.
I'm probably going to complete my playthrough this time, and may have an idea for a mod that incorporates repairing the moongates via the moonstones, as well as adding Castle Britain's underground seen in UW2
