Another gripe with schedules ^_~

Alright, so having ever more fun with schedules. This time, the waiter one. So I have a waitress (yes the same one that disappeared, although changing her shape made her reappear) that serving the mess hall in the Castle. In theory.

You see thats the problem, she doesnt. She goes to the cook's tables in the kitchen, and asks the rolled dough if it wants vegetables. Grrr...

Okay, maybe I should take another look at the 'wait_at_tables' schedule...

Well, unless you want your waiter to also cater to the food :P

Thanks ^_^

One idea that occurs to me is that you could have waiters only wait on tables that have plates set on them.

I don't think that's a good idea. If a player moves/removes the plates the waitress will probably go crazy. In fact she may even run off to serve on the plates wherever they are, kinda like Batlin and his podium.

Nono, I mean, when you check the table, ensure there is a plate shape on it, if not, move on to the next table.

I looked at the Waiter schedule a bit. We only have two states: preparing food and serving it. There's no 'take an order' state. The waiter yells stuff about the food as he's walking along. I can't remember how the original worked, but I'll try to find time to improve it a bit in the next few days.

It does look like we create plates in front of the patrons if they don't have them already.

In the original, they take an order by standing by an NPC that is sitting down. Perhaps have them stop at sitting NPCs? And perhaps limit the barks until they are standing there?

I also noticed that the blacksmith script is a bit buggy ... the blacksmith places a heated sword blank on the anvil, without moving, and stands by the forge making the motions as if they were shaping it, even though theyre still by the forge.

also.. recently some NPCs seem to move less than they should.. like for example the entire company inside the monitor crypts at the beginning of SI.. they all kinda huddle together on the north wall of the room :P

Yeah, I notice that too ... also related: the party members seem to huddle together too ... I mean, yeah Im a good guy and we have the peace and harmony thing going, but if they keep huddling together like that, Im going to tell Dupre and Katrina to get a room.

I did a bit of work on the Waiter schedule the last couple of days. It still has some funny stuff that I need to figure out, but it now has separate states for taking orders, preparing the food, and serving it.

The Move2Sched schedule seems very buggy for me. Several of the NPCs I have created wont actually move to a new schedule onscreen, and if they are sitting when put on to the Move2Sched schedule they just appear at the next schedule position, sitting.
