I think the problem with the skirt is the angle of the leg shadows- since her legs are at a convex(ish) angle in relation to her body (dunno how to explain this better), the shadows should be, too.
I whipped up a quickie skirt so you can see what I'm trying to illustrate;
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v668/ ... skirt2.gif
The shape is not perfect, but hopefully, it'll help a little bit. The shading is awful, I know XD.
Here's a to-scale version, if you want to take it and build on the model. It's just the skirt, which you can edit to your heart's content. ^^

The sleeves look great, by the way. I hate drawing sleeves...

The female body paper doll might look better if the toneing was lowered to make them look less butch. Like what was done with Spark, that looks great. Right now, the girls look a little like they're bulging in the shorts if you know what I mean...

I'd vote in favor of nude female paperdolls.... ( o ) ( o )
(@_@)
Sorry... Origin put sex and nudity in there in the first place! I can't help it! They corrupted my innocent childhood...

The arms of the orange one look kind of strange, especially the right one (fom our view). It doesn'T look like it's part of the dress.

i.. dont get what you mean.. its kinda hard to miss that its a completely different color...

I mean further up, the female dress looks like the right arm is part of the dress, in the male one it doesn't look like this for me. Also I'd prefer the full length dress and arms on the male one as well

well im not gona do that.. the dresses were designed for female bodies.. not much larger male ones... this is the most you're gonna get out of me for male dresses... mainly cause the thought scares me
there.. i loosened the sleeves a bit.. better?

As an alternative, instead of a dress, one could make robes for the men...like mage's robes? Maybe a dealie with a hood (or a pointy hat XD). I'd imagine some people primarily like to have a magic-using Avatar, so it might be a nice alternative to armor.
Of course, I'm not *imploring* that this be done- it's just a suggestion if you dislike the idea of male dresses. Of course...a robe is a dress, really...but "robe" sounds marginally manlier (I guess...).

maybe.. is always a chance i might
male shoes, as they only needed a tiny edit... and thankfully i wont have to do the hoods again either as they fit male heads too

ok.. erase the "fit male heads too" bit.. upon closer inspection ill prolly have to redraw em some.. lol

The dresses I made for BG are already identical for male and female. I didn't see a problem with it. If you're a male avatar and want to wear a sparkly blue dress that's up to you, and you alone are responsible for the strange looks Lord British gives you.

sorry, but thats not how I see it >.>
and they arent identical.. the male one is ever so slightly shorter

Hey, if Ultima VIII had graphics for the male avatar wearing dresses with long sleeves and skirt, why not in Ultima VII?

Well, anyways, great work so far....
I still have no idea on where to get and how to use your graphics though. Did I miss that part?
Please don't tell me I have to right-click 'em all in the thread, save with "Save as" and do some wicked Exult Studio import stuff...

No, that's my job
I'm too busy with work this week to get around to it, though. This weekend I'll import some more of Crysta's art into Exult.
