I was responded to a post by 2 people. both said to read the document on applying sound effects, but i had already done that. could you explain each part of the installiation in excruciating detail?
for example what do you mean write down the name of the file in config?

jmsfx.flx

jmsisfx.flx

would be correct for the "normal" sfx pack.

sqsfxbg.flx

sqsfxsi.flx

would be correct for the mt-32 sfx pack.

You need to edit exult.cfg with these entries (the ones between and ). To edit, open exult.cfg with notepad.

And can you copy and paste or does it have to be moved?

Perhaps you could also list the entire notepad config so i know what and where to put it because there is a different text then where you listed.

I listed what you told me and made the changes, put the file in static and still no sound. My SI file does not have a data folder like black gate.

nope into the data dir of Exult. That is wherever you installed exult to there will also be a directory called data. It will also contain the file exult_bg.flx

Could you please think about your posts a bit longer before writing them? A single coherent post is a lot easier to respond to than a dozen inconsistent single-sentence posts.

For example:

"ok i did it still no sound, it is in exult cfg."

What did you do? What is in exult.cfg?

"and also would i need to put to different modifications for both sound packs or would i just have to put both files in the exult data dir.?"

What kind of modifications do you mean? Modifications to exult.cfg? If so, what is the connection between the first part of that sentence and the second part? The 'or' seems to suggest that you want to do either the first part or the second part, while I can't see the relation between the two.

Taking a little extra time to write a well-structured, well-argued post makes it a lot more likely that someone will be able to help you. If we have to guess at what exactly you're trying to say, you most likely won't get an effective answer, if you get an answer at all.

tell us where you put the files from the sound packs, where exult is installed to and copy paste the content of your exult.cfg here.
