Advice on Exult Studio please?

I've seriously sat here for the better part of the day trying to figure this out (but finding out a bunch of other neat stuff about exult instead). And, why not, let me also say that I've been following Exult for a long while now. If it wasn't for you guys I would still be using a 486 to play Ultima, like I was just 2 summers ago.

But I guess I'm not expecting support on something not completed but instead am just looking if I missed the obvious.

I followed everything and even tried numerous re-installs, trying to put things in different folders and such as well. I specifically cannot get Studio to open when the docs say it should. The only discrepancy I can see is this (from http://exult.info/studio.php#run_steps):
Next, you need to have the latest Exult snapshot and the SDL mixer installed properly onto your computer and working correctly. If you are currently playing either BG or SI on your machine this is probably done right. To make sure you have the correct version, ensure that it says X.XX CVS (X.XX stands for some version number) during Exult's start-up screen (for example see http://exult.info/images/screenshots/mainmenu.png).
I am running BG and SI, I am using the latest Exult, I don't know much about the SDL other than it's from the latest package. What I am not getting is "CVS" on my version number. I'm getting just 1.2 in the corner instead instead.

OK, since you guys technically want it: Exult 1.2, WinXP, don't know about sound card and NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440.

Thanks in advance if there is any clue.

Apparently you're using 1.2. Exult Studio only works in 1.4.x. (Unstable).

Therefor you should get the following programs at hte download page in section Exult 1.4.x Snapshots (Unstable) - use at your own risk!:
Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP binary snapshot
Exult Win32 Tools snapshot
Exult Studio (work in progress)

These are not necessary, but you could download one of these too:
Photoshop Plugin
Gimp 1.x Plugin (For Windows)
Gimp 2.x Plugin (For Windows)

yup, Gunnar is right. Official release is not the same as snapshot. Snapshots have newer code and are required for Exult Studio so the two programs are "synchronized" in their abilities.

rofl, that would be it. I didn't understand the terminology of "snapshot" and assumed that just meant the latest stable version. Thanks!

Once you get it working, feel free to post bugs or suggestions here.

Well, after the first round of testing it out I haven't been able to get into BG since (BG just crashes on startup). SI works though, so at least that counts for me trying out the program. I guess what's next is figuring usecode, which I'm getting some leads on already.
