Is there any way to resurrect a NPC via the cheat menu?

Yes, enable archwizard mode, create a spellbook if you don't have one (assuming item creation is implemented), and you will have the resurrect spell. If you don't know how to get a spellbook, there is an excelent FAQ by DSimpson (dan simpson) over at gamefaqs.com for both the black gate and serpent isle.

I thought that the resurrection spell was removed in SI?

I had to click the hour glass when on the monks isle, in the temple, with Gwenno's body, since the monks kept telling me she was lost beyond recovery. It is 'possible' that dead NPCs could be resurrected in this way, but I haven't tried it.

Well that IS the exact purpose of the hourglass: To summon a monk and ressurect your companion.....

If the NPC was killed and it wasn't a spawn, it exists in the house of the dead and can be resurrected... although doing such can always cause plot problems and potentially other game issues, so be careful.

You need to find the NPCs number (Teleport to the house of the dead if you do not know what it is, and find them), then change their DEAD flag to N. Often if they were killed in combat they will have negative hitpoints and be asleep as well... you'll have to heal them or use the editor to give them positive hitpoints again, as well as making them conscious.

Actually that doesn't work in Exult (AFAIK) as we don't use the house of dead.

yes there is but the people who die in exult don't go to the house of dead. And unless I'm mistaken and am in another forum this topic is about SI AND Exult, right?

I don't know if everyone goes to the house of the dead, but I'm sure I saw some people go there after death...

Trust me, I never played Serpent Isle without Exult because it wouldn't run, even on DOS, because of the memory crap it had.

oh, well, then go test it. Start SI with Exult, note the npc number of an npc and then kill him/her. Now look up the coordinates of that NPC or go to the house of dead. Let us know if you ever find that NPC again.

I dunno exactly how the house of the dead works, but I know that there are loads of people there at the beginning of the game, and after the banes are released, there are the banes themselves, some gwani and some automatons. It's strange... looks like only a select few go to the house of the dead, or something.

Maybe usecode teleports some people there when they're killed during scripted events. I haven't looked at it closely, though.

As pointed out before in Exult NOT every dead NPC goes there. The original used the house of dead for storing dead or unused NPCs there so it is of course filled at the beginning. But normally dead NPC leave the map in Exult.
