hi,

it is possible to finish the game very quickly

you just have to collect some things (magic carpet, rudyoms wand , blackgate key from bucs den, unlock magic spell, some armor+weapons). then go to the isle of the avatar and finish the dungeon. use rudyoms wand on the black gate and you are done.

is this a bug?

i used exult v1.2, U7 BG german version. i don't know if this is also possible in exult 1.4 or in U7 BG without exult.

I think you could do this in the original. Seems like unless you were cheating, you'd need to get your stats fairly high to get through to the black gate.

Yes, it is possible in the original as well.

Or you could just use the cheat room. Total time, about 10 minutes.

this was done without cheating in three hours i think...

just fly around with the magic carpet, collect some magic armor and glass swords and so on.

first i thought i have to be level 5 because of the dispel field spell. but than i figured out that you can get through the last dungeon even without dispel field.

i just save and load the game until i had some luck in the battles with the liches. if you consider this is cheating then i cheated


i just wonder about destroying the black gate without the Tetrahedron, the Sphere, and the Cube and all the stuff...

Best thing against liches is to go invisible; if they can't see you, they can't kill you instantly .

destroying the black gate without Electronic Arts logo should be a bug IMHO.

You can finish the game without the tetrahedron, sphere and cube? That's definitely a bug. I remember back when I played the original game, I reached the black gate but couldn't destroy it because I had forgotten one of the three artifacts... I had to totally disable the beam before being able to use Rudyom's Wand on the black gate.

You know, I hadn't noticed that he said he did that. When you said this, I thought that something might be amiss; I looked at the usecode and saw that you need to use the 3 items to destroy the blackgate. I tested in Exult, and it worked as expected (i.e., you can't destroy the blackgate withouth the 3 items). Then, re-reading mars0x's message, I noticed this:

So there it is, the mistery is solved; this is likely due to a bug in usecode interpretation from Exult 1.2. It is not possible in Exult 1.4, nor in the original.

i finished english u7 in exult 1.2 in 2 and a half hours. just got party members, than equipment (hoe of destruction and death scythe from scara brae counted), then did the plot. you gain most exp from plot progressing, so i didnt have a problem with that.
