Cannor use the Serpent Gate on Erstam's island. Possible bug

As I said I am on Erstam's island (SI) and I've done everything.

According to the walktrough I am reading I need to leave by the serpent gate by double clicking it.

But the gate simply refuse to activate itself.

Ive got the Serpent.
Got the Phoenix Egg.
Gave life to Boydon and recruited him.
Got the Serpent Toot from Erstam.

I see no reason why the gate refuse to work, so I guess it is a bug.
Does anyone have a solution?

I am sorry, I forgot to mention that I had picked up the Jawbone and that I put the 3 tooth I had in it.

As for the other poster, I am pretty sure I was outside the building when I picked up the Jawbone. Could it be the problem?

It might be. Try putting the jawbone back exactly where you found it, and then pick it up again.

What version of exult are you using?

all i know is that it worked for me. I've been playing through the game for the last 3 months. make sure you have the latest exult. when you double click on it does the avatar bend over or anything, or does nothing at all happen? Maybe make sure you've talked to erstam enough to know how to use the serpent gate, but it sounds as if you were pretty thorough.

i had trouble getting it to work when i first did it but i was trying to double click the jawbone like the necklace that takes you to the silver seed stuff.

Got it working...

I dropped it where I found it and picked it up again.
Now everything works, thanks for helping everyone.

What you ARE supposed to do is to put the teeth in the jawbone, take them out, then put them back in again to activate that particular tooth.

So when you get more, add it to the jawbone, click on the tooth to remove it, then add the tooth again and the appropriate door will then open on the dark path. That's how it was done in the original.

Nope, that's not correct. All you have to do is add it, you don't have to remove it and readd it at all.

Uh? No, you just have to have them in the jawbone. No need to take them out again or anything.

Howcome I had to do it in the original?

It was even said in conversation with erstram, or it was with that other guy who's name escapes me right now.

It was something about "he enjoyed putting the teeth in and taking them back out again".

It was something like that, I'm pretty sure not word for word.

Actually just played it, it was Vasel that said that he amused himself by taking the teeth out and putting them back in again.

But now that I think more on it, I think it was because I saw that from the beginning, I always had done it (put it in, pulled it out, put it in), when I had gotten a new tooth and didn't just place it in and forget it.
