Version 1.0 (the latest snapshot).

Exult randomly and extremely slowdowns, getting stuck for a couple
seconds before returning to normality. Then, again, at random time,
another slowdown.

I can't reproduce this in anyway, location, party, sounds turned on or
off, it doesn't matter. The slowdown happens suddenly, and suddenly
leaves. Note: During the slowdown I can't even move the cursor or
use hotkeys.

System : P4 3,06ghz, 1gb Ram, Ati Radeon 9700 pro, Creative Audigy 2
Windows XP pro, service pack 1

Does it happen when there are monsters nearby, perhaps when they're behind locked doors? A long-time Exult problem is that the pathfinder gets called too often in that circumstance.

Totally randomic. I thought it was the pathfinder too, in the beginning,
because I had a 7 characters party. I tried going alone, in the desert,
and it's the same. Alone, waterwalking where there's practically nothing,
and still the problem exists. Yesterday I tried something new: I reinstalled
RC 0.98... and the problem is still there! I think it may be something
in my new machine, yet other apps don't suffer the same problem, and
the CPU usage nears 0% even during the slowdowns, so I am totally
clueless, now.
