Are there some news from the "programmers' playground" branch?
What's going to be implemented in Exult 1.1?

We've been taking it easy lately, but 1.1 should have:

1. Lots of code cleanup (mostly done).
2. Bug fixes, of course.
3. Combat improvements, like the 'pause combat' option.
4. More work on Exult studio.
5. Whatever anyone decides to do:-)

Hmmm! Tasty!

Anyhow those are improvements, while I thought that the 1.1 branch was basically the "Experimental lab" for functional modification, stuff which would be nice to implement but would also introduce brand new mechanics differing from the original gameplay.

Are there any "real" plans (as oppsoed to 'gosh, that would be nice to implement during the next galactic eon') to fix combat?

I think most people will agree that Ultima 6 combat was much preferable to U7, but if we are already fixing it, why not go all the way? (I realize my definition of 'all the way' will be different than other people's) Why not have a phase or turn based combat system, with Action Points and the whole thing ala Jagged Alliance, Fallout, etc?

Hmm, I'd say that not everyone perfers turn-based combat since it slows things down. Also, I imagine that it would be an extreme amount of work to implement, so I doubt it'll ever happen. Of course, the actual developers would know better than I do. :-)
