Saving Issues

I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong, but each time I try save, it doesn't work. The game runs fine, and all features except saving seem to be working, but each time I quit I lose my progress. Is there some kind of trick?

My system is Vista, and I got the most current version available for download (none of the extra sound files included).

You do start the game by clicking on "journey onward", right?
