[01:14:21] <-- Nuclear has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[01:14:26] --> Nuclear has joined #exult
[01:15:43] --> Ryan` has joined #exult
[01:15:58] <Ryan`> Man.. Exult is buggier than Windows on a bad day.
[01:20:40] <-- Nuclear has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[01:20:44] --> Nuclear has joined #exult
[01:24:11] <kefka> Ryan`: uh.. i seriously doubt that
[01:24:34] <kefka> i use exult.. i have yet to encounter any bugs with the latest version except for the known ones
[01:24:42] <kefka> such as combat
[01:34:10] <-- Nuclear has left IRC ("leaving")
[01:39:43] <Ryan`> Ultima 7, part 2... Just 30 mins ago I got hit just by walking
[01:40:39] <Ryan`> And when you try to use the hack editor to move NPCs, it always crashes.
[01:46:07] <-- Ryan` has left #exult ()
[02:13:39] <-- kefka has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[02:13:42] --> kefka has joined #exult
[02:38:50] --> Darke has joined #exult
[02:38:50] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Darke
[02:38:58] * Darke bows, "Hello."
[02:48:17] <kefka> hello
[02:49:12] * Darke wonders what was up with that 'Ryan' creature that wandered in here. It'd be nice if he actually read the docs, or even posted a bug report.
[02:51:15] <kefka> heh.. i didn't want to bother with him.. i hate dealing with people like that
[02:51:48] --> ceckak has joined #exult
[02:52:34] <ceckak> hi all - absolute newbie to IRC here and just venturing in to ask an exult question
[02:53:03] * Darke earperks and nods. "Fire away and those of us awake will try and answer." *grin*
[02:53:14] <kefka> all two of us
[02:53:23] <ceckak> I've never played through BG all the way before, so I'm not sure how it's supposed to behave
[02:53:31] <ceckak> But I'm stuck at the Hydra on ambrosia
[02:53:47] <ceckak> I've killed the hydra, but magic unlock isn't working on the door
[02:53:58] <ceckak> I've also tried the door on the island in the middle with the same results
[02:54:07] <ceckak> Is this expected behavior, or a goof-up in exult?
[02:54:34] <Darke> Good question. I can't remember that part, it's been so long since I've played it myself. *grin*
[02:55:10] <ceckak> I've got plenty of reagents, and had to use magic unlock on several other doors to even get to the Hydra
[02:55:12] <Darke> Have you checked a walkthrough to see if you've done everything you need to do?
[02:55:50] <ceckak> The two I've looked at simply say kill the hydra then get the Cadellite
[02:56:18] <ceckak> Maybe I've somehow gotten out of sequence with the usecode so it thinks I'm not allowed through the door yet?
[02:57:33] * Darke pokes at his source and grumbles, he doesn't have a running copy of exult at the moment.
[02:57:44] <ceckak> *grin*
[02:58:17] <ceckak> I can post my save-game file for you on the web if that would help - it's saved right there at the door
[02:58:19] <Darke> It's possible. But I don't think it's a usecode thing. The 'simplist' solution would be to just teleport past the door and grab the cadellite, then continue the game.
[02:58:43] <ceckak> Sure - I've already poked around and found the cadellite there
[02:59:00] <ceckak> I've just been trying to play the game through somewhat correctly and thought I'd see if I could sort it out
[02:59:05] <ceckak> No big deal though either way
[02:59:19] <Darke> (savegame) That might work. You might want to post in the forums with a link to the savegame and see if anyone else has the same problem.
[03:00:08] <Darke> Agreed. Thanks, we need people to just play through and locate the odd bug or two that crops up.
[03:02:46] <ceckak> OK - think it shold be posted now at http://k-n-t.dhs.org/exult/exult02bg.sav
[03:03:14] <ceckak> If you don't have any thought and/or just don't want to bother with it right now :) I'll post it on the forum as well.
[03:04:59] <ceckak> While I'm here - let me express my thanks for all the work you guys have put into this engine. I've really been enjoying the games. Even got it up and running on my P100 laptop! Had to futz around a bit with it to use FM synthesized MIDI instead of timidity though since timidity killed the performance.
[03:06:27] <Darke> (save) It's not much of a 'bother with it', it's more of a case of having a working copy of exult to test it with. *grin*
[03:08:20] <Darke> Thanks for the compliments, I haven't really done much work on exult in specific though, I'm just one of the random coders hiding in the corner. But the others will read the logs of this. *grin* It's rather impressive you got it running on a P100, how well does it run?
[03:11:39] <ceckak> It's barely tolerable, but playable. The laptop runs at a fixed 800x600 display, so I wanted to enable the x2 scaling, but scaling bogs it down quite a bit. I compromised and used the "point" scaling which isn't too bad. In fact for the most part it's probably as fast as the original ran on my 486dx50, but it's plagued with these 5 second hangs every few minutes which gets annoying :)
[03:15:42] <Darke> Umm... ouch. *grin* I think that's the lowest spec machine we know it runs on. So... umm... congratulations or something. *grin*
[03:18:08] <ceckak> On that timidity issue, any idea if there's supposed to be a build option for using FM synthesis? All I see in the configure script is timidity and kmid. I couldn't get kmid to talk to the laptop's SB16, so I ended up beating on the source until I could convince it to use playmidi, but I didn't see any official way to do this.
[03:21:42] <Darke> I'm not sure if there is an official way to do this, I've not actually looked at the audio code, sorry.
[03:24:23] <ceckak> No problem - just getting all my good questions in while I'm here :) Suppose I'll sign off though. Have some programming I'd like to get done before it gets any later.
[03:24:52] <ceckak> Got a summary of the magic unlock issue posted on the board - will have to wait and see if it turns anything up.
[03:26:29] <ceckak> Was nice talking with you...Later

[04:45:37] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Kirben
[04:45:48] --> Ryan` has joined #exult
[04:45:52] <Ryan`> umm
[04:45:59] <Ryan`> I never got the hourglass in U7P2 with Exult
[04:46:04] <Ryan`> So how do I revive my characters?
[04:56:05] <Ryan`> Hm.. I somehow must have passed it up
[04:56:17] <Ryan`> Strange. Nevermind.
[04:56:19] <-- Ryan` has left #exult ()
[05:52:17] --> Nuclear has joined #exult
[05:52:38] <Nuclear> Hullo
[06:14:22] <Darke> Hello.
[06:19:59] <Nuclear> Was wondering if anyone needed the information from the U8 stategy guide. I was reading all of the docs for pentagram (some don't yet make complete to me, but in time.), and I noticed that some of the information was different that my book.
[06:21:07] <Nuclear> Some of the manual isn't as dependable though. I think I remember an armor or two with incorrect values written down
[06:35:01] <Darke> Some of it could be of use in the future, but it's probably not worth going out of your way at the moment to type/scan it in for us.
[06:41:46] <Nuclear> alright. I could mype it in.. official name on the maps at least would make it alot easier to distinguish which ones they are. e.g. Upper Catacombs.
[06:43:18] <Nuclear> also noticed that the avatar size isn't in scale with the map. or vice versa. But fixing that is probably a far distant future plan
[06:44:07] <Darke> <nod> IIRC, adding the avatar was a rather quick hack done beacause someone noticed it wouldn't be too difficult to do. <grin>
[06:46:44] <Nuclear> makes since... besides that's only walking and jumping from a somewhat functional avatar... well at least with no borders or adjustable height
[06:48:47] * Darke nods.
[07:00:19] <Nuclear> That's strange the book calls the Plains "Plane"s. Can't remember if the game said it as well
[07:01:32] * Darke blinks. Certainly somewhat odd.
[07:15:26] <Nuclear> Ok I at least have the map names complete. Any way you'd like to receive them?
[07:16:02] <Nuclear> *sigh* 4 Upper Catacombs
[07:18:09] <Nuclear> and I alwats though it was strange how they printed the maps. They appear to just be screenshots made probably by that old U8mapper program
[07:18:35] <Nuclear> s/alwaty though/always thought
[07:20:17] <Darke> How they printed the maps?
[07:20:47] <Darke> You can DCC the list to me if you wish, and I'll either drop it into cvs or get someone else to.
[07:24:19] <Nuclear> the Pentology guide has maps... they appear as pentagram shows, including the whitespace in between map areas.
[07:25:42] <Darke> *nod* And the 'visible' invisible blocks too? *grin*
[07:27:59] <Nuclear> the invisible block weren't listed but area you can see in the game via airwalk aren't drawn because in the game they were just filled in with lava or water.
[07:28:28] * Darke nods. Makes sense.
[07:29:32] <Nuclear> but the spacing between the map and its subsections is the same, ecept for parts that they had to move to save room on the pictures, but they even boxed those like any real map
[07:30:17] <Nuclear> anyway, kinda still new to IRC (never had a reason to use it), what's the syntax for DCC on a file
[07:31:13] <Darke> Are you using a graphical client? If you are, you can normally right click on the name of the person you want to send something to, and use 'dcc send' or 'send file'.
[07:31:42] <Nuclear> no graphics.. just irssi for linux
[07:32:02] <Darke> `/dcc send Darke filename` should work.
[07:32:43] <Darke> Or even just try `/dcc send Darke` and see if it prompts you for a filename or something.
[07:33:55] <Darke> Email might be easier: darkepaw@users.sourceforge.net should work.
[07:34:48] <Nuclear> works quite well
[07:35:34] <Nuclear> IRC uses downloads queues right
[07:35:36] <Nuclear> ?
[07:35:54] <Darke> It doesn't look like it's going to work. You'll have to email it to me.
[07:36:21] <Nuclear> hmmm ok. probably need to switch my client too.\
[07:36:51] <Darke> IRC uses download queues, it's proabably being blocked by my firewall or something. <sigh>
[07:36:57] <Nuclear> I'll just send it with my hotmail account that I for some strange reason still use
[07:38:42] * Darke nods. He often wonders why people still use hotmail. *grin*
[07:40:57] <Nuclear> I joined before Microsoft bought it. Too lazy to change it.. but I should, developers for other projects just don't take me too seriously
[07:42:07] <Nuclear> even when I have a good point... such as why libticables shouldn't put macros into /usr/share/aclocal
[07:42:58] <Nuclear> and then have two other libraries with made by the same guy that have cross dependencies and duplicate macros do the same
[07:43:11] <Darke> They sound like idiots then. It's about as dumb as descriniating against an AOL user despite the fact they have actually 'proved' they're not an idiot.
[07:43:15] <Nuclear> took me a while to find that one
[07:44:10] <Nuclear> aclocal kept failing until I removed the macros and then I finally compiled pentagram after a week of trying
[07:44:32] <Nuclear> but that's life
[07:44:50] * Darke doesn't like hotmail because of it's privacy implications. But otherwise it IMO, isn't too bad a service.
[07:45:07] <Darke> Ouch, what a waste of time.
[07:45:51] <Nuclear> it doesnt like opera. I have to identify as IE to send files, but it does this perfectly.
[07:48:49] * Darke remembers there was a big fuss about this a few months ago, it worked 'perfectly' but was disabled on non-MS browsers because MS said it wouldn't work, except it did.
[07:49:04] <Nuclear> not really.. it helped me understand what aclocal is and does, while also allowing me to bruch up on perl
[07:49:23] <Nuclear> s/bruch/brush
[07:51:15] <Nuclear> the aclocal thing on the last 2
[07:52:12] <Nuclear> very minor activeX on hotmail I think.
[07:52:41] <Nuclear> not sure
[07:53:01] <Nuclear> but still everything works in opera
[07:53:22] <Nuclear> hell, everything almost works in lynx :)
[07:53:40] * Darke snickers.
[07:58:54] <Nuclear> anyway... it just hit 2:00 am in my time zone.. think I should get some sleep. Later.
[07:59:09] <Darke> Night!
[07:59:13] <-- Nuclear has left IRC ("leaving")
[08:00:11] --> wjp has joined #exult
[08:00:11] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to wjp
[08:00:15] <wjp> morning
[08:00:34] <Darke> Evening. <grin>
[08:01:01] * Darke thinks timezones make greetings somewhat surreal sometimes.
[08:01:46] * wjp usually sticks to "hi" because of that :-)
[08:02:03] * Darke does too. *grin*
[08:02:48] --- wjp is now known as wjp|work
[09:04:00] <wjp|work> brb
[09:04:01] <-- wjp|work has left IRC ("[x]chat")
[09:06:05] --> wjp has joined #exult
[09:06:05] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to wjp
[09:06:10] --- wjp is now known as wjp|work
[09:06:37] * Darke strings out a 'Welcome Back!' banner above wjp's head.
[09:08:51] <wjp|work> heh, thanks :-)
[09:29:02] * wjp|work takes down the banner again. He's been back long enough now ;-)
[09:44:16] * Darke thinks he should have left it up as a pre-emptive 'welcome back after you crash' banner. <grin>
[09:45:58] <wjp|work> crash? what's that?
[09:46:32] <Darke> Or the death of a net connection or something. *grin*
[11:07:17] --> Wumpus has joined #exult
[11:07:26] <Wumpus> `evening all
[11:17:43] * Darke grins, "Hello."
[11:32:38] <wjp|work> hi
[11:32:46] <wjp|work> afternoon, btw :-)
[11:36:52] * Darke wonders if it would be a policy to kickban people on #exult who happen to reference the time of their local day in greetings... *grin*
[11:37:12] <Wumpus> *shrug* :P
[11:37:16] * wjp|work inserts a "and do not have auto-op" in there :-)
[11:39:57] * wjp|work puts up banner again... brb
[11:39:59] <-- wjp|work has left IRC ("[x]chat")
[11:41:17] --> wjp has joined #exult
[11:41:18] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to wjp
[11:41:44] <wjp> A welcome back banner! how nice! ;-)
[11:42:40] <Wumpus> hehe
[11:50:15] * Darke points out that he anticipated just such an occurance!
[12:17:02] <Wumpus> so its YOUR fault!
[12:29:13] <-- Wumpus has left IRC ("Reboot (not coming back tonight)")
[12:32:46] --> Colourless has joined #Exult
[12:32:59] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Colourless
[12:32:59] <Colourless> hi
[12:34:06] <wjp> hi
[12:38:09] --> Nuclear has joined #exult
[12:38:55] <wjp> hi
[12:39:10] <Colourless> hi
[12:39:14] <Nuclear> what's up?
[12:40:29] <wjp> oh, the usual... (ie. not much :-) )
[12:41:26] <Nuclear> then again.. if you're near my time zone not much should be going on... arg 6:40 AM
[12:41:52] --> sb-x has joined #exult
[12:42:00] <sb-x> morning everyone
[12:42:08] <wjp> *grin*
[12:42:09] <wjp> hi :-)
[12:42:27] <Colourless> hi
[12:42:27] <Colourless> more like evening here
[12:42:31] <Colourless> or night even
[12:42:31] * wjp wonders if he should point at it's afternoon
[12:42:36] <wjp> s/at/out/
[12:43:12] <Nuclear> mourning
[12:43:26] <Nuclear> s/u/""
[12:44:03] <sb-x> OooOoh
[12:44:14] <Nuclear> I know. time zones plus internet are just funny that way
[12:44:17] <sb-x> Who here can do the neatest 'sed' trick? :-)
[12:44:35] <Nuclear> ?
[12:44:46] <wjp> que?
[12:45:14] <sb-x> Forget I said anything. I don't know how to use sed anyway.
[12:45:28] * sb-x grins.
[12:46:00] <Nuclear> ..ok. well, at least that woke me up
[12:46:17] * sb-x is confusing as usual/
[12:46:21] <Nuclear> *quickly running though man page
[12:48:58] <Darke> sb-x: 'sb-x is confusing as usual', I like that. *grin* It causes confusion as to whether you're saying that you, yourself are confusing, or whether you're causing others to be confused.
[12:49:41] <sb-x> I am a state of confusion.
[12:50:09] <wjp> ...and, whether that confusion is caused by something you said earlier, or that you're just being confusing by confusing everyone by saying you're confusing. ;-)
[12:50:15] * Darke is in the state of Queensland, but that doesn't stop him.
[12:51:16] * sb-x headscratches and passes carrots out to everyone in the channel.
[12:51:25] * wjp hands his carrot to Darke
[12:51:34] <wjp> I'm sure he will appreciate it more than I will :-)
[12:51:51] <sb-x> I always seem to have an oversupply.
[12:51:56] * Darke crunches on his carrots and nodnods.
[12:52:40] * Nuclear prefers caffiene right now
[12:54:04] <Nuclear> ahh the power of code red mountain dew
[12:54:25] <sb-x> ?
[12:54:32] <Nuclear> ??
[12:54:40] <Colourless> ???
[12:54:47] <wjp> ???!
[12:55:16] * Darke sighs and sweeps the excess puncutation marks into a bowl.
[12:55:59] * wjp steals the ? bowl ? from ? Darke ! and litters ? them throughout ? the channel
[12:56:39] <Colourless> ??????
[12:56:58] * sb-x overdoses on !?
[12:57:25] <Colourless> i hear that is fatal! This is especially true on the internet!
[12:57:37] <sb-x> !?
[12:59:32] <sb-x> Does anyone know what "Route lost" means in gtk-gnutella?
[12:59:38] * Darke wonders what's with people and their punctuation fetishes. Expecially over exclamation and question marks, it's more then a little odd.
[12:59:52] * sb-x throws a # at Darke.
[13:00:11] <Darke> sb-x: Their machine went off line IIRC, but that's just a guess.
[13:00:12] <Colourless> hmm #
[13:00:44] <sb-x> Darke: It says that even on files I click on immediately after finding them in a search.
[13:00:49] * Darke uses his l33t hax0r skills to r00t sb-x's box since sb-x just gave him his root prompt.
[13:01:22] <sb-x> oops
[13:01:47] * sb-x gives Darke an inappropriate Three Finger Salute.
[13:01:53] <sb-x> :\
[13:02:13] <Darke> sb-x: There's a firewall at both ends so it can't transmit properly? I've never really noticed that happening to me.
[13:02:41] <sb-x> it happens to me all the time
[13:03:27] <Darke> Are you behind a firewall, and haven't got port forwarding setup for the appropriate ports?
[13:04:06] <sb-x> I am not. Perhaps they are.
[13:05:27] * Darke is semi-random stabbing in the dark here, he can't locate what he thought existed in his version of gtk-gnutella.
[13:07:32] <sb-x> theres a program called napshare that looks exactly like gtk-gnutella but has an extra screen for something
[13:07:35] <sb-x> scheduling i think
[13:07:59] <sb-x> Automation
[13:08:30] <wjp> how is gnutella anyway? I never really used it... (I did get Morpheus running in Wine last week, but that's all the P2P experience I have)
[13:08:58] * Nuclear usually uses qtella, but currently can't compile QT
[13:09:04] <Colourless> i question how p2p can possibly work over the internet
[13:09:27] <Colourless> there 'must' be a central server somewhere
[13:10:16] <wjp> or several slightly-less-central
[13:10:34] <Nuclear> how do you mean central server? The lookups and queries of other users?
[13:10:36] <sb-x> i think each client comes with a list of known dedicated servers
[13:10:52] <wjp> theoretically all you need is the IP of one other client or server
[13:10:52] <sb-x> and once you use it the first time it gathers even more servers
[13:11:07] <Colourless> yeah. i fail to understand the arguements the creators make that it's impossible to take down the network. just remove all the client lists and it's dead
[13:11:24] <wjp> but that's impossible to do :-)
[13:12:03] <Nuclear> it's impossible to take down every server, but not impossible to take down the query servers
[13:12:13] <sb-x> every server is a query server
[13:12:14] <sb-x> isnt it?
[13:12:21] <sb-x> i don't know how it works
[13:12:24] <sb-x> :)
[13:12:42] <sb-x> I assumed every host would send a list of hosts to someone if requested.
[13:12:47] <Colourless> I don't know how it works either
[13:13:53] <Nuclear> 4 gnutella servers and a bear shareserver give lists of other servers. taking them out would make it highly difficult to use gnutella
[13:14:29] <Nuclear> it would still be usable, but you would need your own list of servers.
[13:16:28] <Colourless> well, if you require your own list of servers your choices would become limited, especially for new users
[13:16:46] <Nuclear> it would become like using napagator has become with older napster clients
[13:17:00] <Nuclear> yes.
[13:19:02] * Nuclear thinks i just got too quiet
[13:19:40] <wjp> too quiet? I didn't know such a thing existed in #exult :-)
[13:19:50] <Colourless> heh, never
[13:20:01] * wjp remembers entire days going by without anybody saying anything more than "hi"
[13:20:04] <Colourless> even nothing spoken for 6 hours isn't too quiet :-)
[13:20:36] <Colourless> i remember one day where we were lucky to have even 1 screen of logs taken by exultbot
[13:20:50] <Nuclear> "The focus reads that I am at Ptogrammer's Playland!" fun things to find in U8 usecode
[13:21:12] <wjp> yeah, unfortunately the map number that that refers to doesn't exist :-(
[13:21:19] <Nuclear> s/Ptogrammer's/Programmer's
[13:21:33] <wjp> (well, technically the 'number' does exist, but there's no map associated to it ;-) )
[13:21:33] <Colourless> there are some really strange maps in pentagram
[13:21:49] <Nuclear> Part of the supposed cheats area?
[13:21:56] * Darke unidles and knows the basics of how the gnutella network works. As the network is currently built it would, IMO, be pretty much impossible to take down the entire network, you don't even need to have a central server. At the extreme edge of it, all you need is a newsgroup people post their ipaddresses into. *grin*
[13:22:17] <Nuclear> one's with chucks of avatar meat scattered everywhere
[13:22:28] <wjp> yeah, that one is funny :-)
[13:22:41] <Colourless> there's that one. there is also 2 which look like unfinished maps
[13:22:59] <Colourless> one has a wall around it like the edge of tenebrae, and another is a map beside the ocean
[13:23:22] <Nuclear> Lost Vale plans possibly?
[13:23:48] <wjp> I think there were also some areas on the (useless) cloth map that weren't in the game
[13:24:26] <Nuclear> cloth maps... heheh... never got those... never needed those
[13:24:37] <Colourless> could be lost vale. one of them seems to have the beginnings of some buildings on it
[13:24:54] * Nuclear hugs his Pentology book
[13:25:03] <sb-x> Was U8's cloth map the worse?
[13:25:15] <wjp> it was hardly a map
[13:25:15] <sb-x> s/worse/worst/
[13:25:19] <Colourless> well, it has little to do with the game
[13:26:23] <sb-x> I vaguely recall a small star shaped chunk with some artwork in random areas. :)
[13:26:31] <Colourless> it is of the entire island/volcano and attempts to show the reletive locations of each of the places in the game
[13:26:41] <Nuclear> wow, even the game's usecode refer's to 4 separate places as Upper Catacombs
[13:26:56] <Colourless> of course, things probably couldn't fit together and produce that map
[13:27:10] <wjp> yeah, that's the main catacombs, the teleporter pad in there, and two of the 'cave' areas, IIRC
[13:28:01] <Colourless> there's 2 maps for the main catacombs
[13:28:14] <wjp> before and after skull of quakes?
[13:28:20] <Colourless> no
[13:28:37] * Colourless rethinks
[13:28:59] * wjp should upload a copy of U8 to his uni. account
[13:29:06] <Colourless> there is only 1 map for the skull of quakes bit
[13:29:15] <Colourless> all the level around that area is usecode generated
[13:29:32] <Nuclear> I know there are two Carthax lakes (before and after you drain it) as well as two Lava Tunnels (before and after Carthax Lake
[13:29:42] <wjp> Nuclear: yeah
[13:29:58] <wjp> isn't there also an unfinished Carthax-lake-like map?
[13:30:06] <wjp> (I vaguely remember something like that)
[13:30:36] <Nuclear> I think some of these maps might lay over each other
[13:30:47] <wjp> ?
[13:31:17] <Nuclear> don't know. probably not
[13:31:26] <Colourless> 49 is a cave
[13:31:52] <Colourless> 50 is the main catacombs
[13:32:15] <Nuclear> still wonder what should have been behind a giant set of unopenable doors on the Plateau
[13:32:29] <wjp> Nuclear: Lost Vale, I think :-)
[13:32:54] <wjp> (at least, that's what I remember having read somewhere)
[13:33:10] <Nuclear> it always annoyed me
[13:34:14] <sb-x> big locked doors usually are annoying
[13:35:30] <-- Darke has left IRC (calvino.openprojects.net irc.openprojects.net)
[13:35:30] <-- Colourless has left IRC (calvino.openprojects.net irc.openprojects.net)
[13:36:01] --> Colourless has joined #exult
[13:39:14] <sb-x> Hmm
[13:39:24] <sb-x> Has Darke been lost to the void?
[13:39:36] <Colourless> seems so
[13:40:05] <Nuclear> curse those voids
[13:40:53] --> Darke has joined #exult
[13:41:31] <Nuclear> exult team: 1 - voids: 0
[13:41:36] <Nuclear> harhar
[13:42:43] * Darke checks the logs, and nods. It appears he's been casted to an exult_team pointer again. <grin>
[13:42:45] * Nuclear thinks himself to have become a scorekeeper
[13:43:18] <Colourless> bah, we don't need to cast you
[13:43:29] <Colourless> the conversion is automatic
[13:44:30] <Colourless> you inherit the exult_team class, despite the fact you haven't implemented all of the methods
[13:46:21] * Darke notices that sanity() in specific isn't implemented. Good think he's never needed it.
[13:46:56] <Colourless> it's a good thing though that you don't inherit the exult_forum_mod class
[13:46:59] <Nuclear> sanity() just returns null
[13:48:16] <Darke> Colourless: Hmm... why would that be a good thing? *grin*
[13:49:16] <Colourless> well, we can't have 2 mods who are likely to provoke the residents of the forum
[13:50:00] <Colourless> i solely claim that title... of course I might just want it all to myself :-)
[13:50:02] <Darke> There's only one already?!? Which one? I thought there must be at least two!
[13:51:53] * Darke wonders if there is a `Cute, innocent, bunny tormenter of phorum participants` title...
[13:52:03] * sb-x securely chains Darke to exultbot.
[13:53:11] <Colourless> i don't think exultbot would like that very much
[13:54:00] * Darke walks around gesticulating with a paw as he drags exultbot along behind him. Yes it's a bit lame, but it's a 'family' channel, he can't say the first thing that came to mind. *grin*
[14:02:01] <-- Kirben has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[14:03:34] * exultbot unlocks chains and ties Darke to Colourless with them
[14:03:48] <Nuclear> well my alarm just went off, so that means I should probably join the rest of modern civilization by bathing.
[14:04:12] <-- Darke was kicked from #exult by Colourless (hopefully this will break the chain)
[14:04:12] --> Darke has joined #exult

[14:07:46] <-- sb-x has left IRC ("c_c")
[14:11:06] * Darke blinkyblinks.
[14:13:15] <Darke> Umm... weird question, but aren't you supposed to keep the nuclear mass away from the cooling fluid? Or have I forgotten basic physics too?
[14:13:44] <wjp> lol
[14:14:37] <Colourless> if i am not mistaken, water is also heated and is turned into steam
[14:15:07] <Colourless> of course it's been a while since i studied nuclear reactors
[14:36:03] --- Nuclear_in_the_shower is now known as Nuclear
[14:36:24] <Nuclear> meltdown has comensed
[14:36:59] <Nuclear> say goodbye to Nebraska. lol
[14:37:25] <Nuclear> and no one will miss it

[19:06:16] --> Nuclear has joined #exult
[19:07:23] <Nuclear> well, time to ask if there is any talk of the skipflic (.skf) format of the movie files for U8
[19:07:44] <Nuclear> because google returns jack
[19:09:49] <wjp> hmm, no, I'm afraid I don't really know anything abou tit
[19:09:55] <wjp> s/u t/ut /
[19:10:13] <wjp> is it anything like a regular flic?
[19:10:50] <wjp> hm, actually, I do know that a .skf file is actually a u8-flex file
[19:11:01] <wjp> did you already extract it with u8extract?
[19:11:03] <Nuclear> not sure.
[19:12:35] <Nuclear> creates alotta files
[19:12:40] <Nuclear> hmm
[19:12:56] <wjp> strange filesize-distribution
[19:13:46] <Nuclear> thing is u8.exe make references to a skipflic.exe and calls the skf files skipflic movie files
[19:14:38] <wjp> I'm not sure, but it looks like some of the sub-files start with an index table of some sort
[19:15:03] <wjp> eg. 2.u8o:
[19:15:32] <wjp> the (16bit)-word at 0x0C exactly points to the end of what looks like the index
[19:15:52] <wjp> (counted from 0x0C)
[19:16:56] <wjp> although it's a bit strange, since the numbers decrease a bit too regularly
[19:17:27] <wjp> hm, I wonder if reading up on the 'normal' flic format will help
[19:19:17] <Nuclear> hmm. maybe
[19:22:36] <Nuclear> that's interesting ... both sfk and flic give me pages on Autodesk
[19:25:48] --> Colourless has joined #Exult
[19:25:48] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Colourless
[19:26:01] <wjp> .skf is also the extension for an autosketch file
[19:26:03] <wjp> hi
[19:26:19] <Colourless> hi
[19:29:16] <wjp> funny, there's some text snippets in eintro.skf/0.u8o
[19:29:28] <Colourless> what does it say?
[19:29:55] <wjp> "son Ely STATION=0000000000F1", "RUN286X=-bound C:\U8\SRC\SKIPFLIC.EXE "
[19:30:02] <wjp> "C:\COMMAND.COM"
[19:30:42] <Colourless> i wonder who "son Ely" is :-)
[19:30:48] <wjp> :-)
[19:31:27] * Colourless thinks this 'son Ely' character could probably help with the decoding
[19:37:48] <Nuclear> convenient eh
[19:58:03] <Nuclear> I'm beginning to think it doesn't use flic
[19:58:25] <Nuclear> oh well.. I got class soon. I'll look at more later. bywe
